Can Cadillac EVs Use A Tesla Supercharger In Turnersville?

Cadillac EV Using Tesla Supercharger

As electric vehicles become increasingly popular, you may wonder if Cadillac EVs can utilize Tesla Superchargers. For luxury car owners in Williamstown, the answer is important as charging access becomes a key factor in choosing an EV. Meanwhile, drivers in Sicklerville are also looking for ways to expand their charging options beyond standard public stations.

Cadillac has announced integration with the Supercharger network through the adoption of the NACS (North American Charging Standard) connector. This advancement allows Cadillac EV owners to enjoy greater flexibility when traveling, with access to thousands of high-speed charging points nationwide.

CCS Connectors Vs. NACS Connectors

Electric vehicle technology is constantly evolving, and that includes charging solutions. Two main charging ports are available in modern vehicles: the SAE Combined Charging System (CCS) and the North American Charging Standard (NACS). See the differences between these two charging systems below:

  • CCS Connectors: CCS connectors allow drivers to access Level 1, Level 2, and DC Fast Charging (Level 3) all within the same port. The only difference is that, to access DC Fast Charging, these connectors must have two additional bottom pins.
  • NACS Connectors: NACS connectors can also access all charging levels, but are currently only used by Tesla. Due to this exclusive usage, any vehicle with an NACS connector is limited to Tesla or Tesla-related charging products.

While Cadillac EVs, like the LYRIQ, come standard with the widely used CCS connector, Tesla Supercharger stations only provide NACS charging cords. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t utilize the Tesla Supercharger stations on your Mullica Hill drives. With the available Cadillac NACS adapter, you can charge your Cadillac OPTIQ at any Tesla Supercharger in the nation.

Charging Your Cadillac At A Supercharger Station

Once you have a Cadillac NACS adapter, charging your Cadillac at a Supercharger station is simple. Follow these steps the next time you need to charge at a Tesla Supercharger:

  2. When you arrive at the Supercharger station, select your charger in the myCadillac app
  3. Exit your Cadillac EV and connect the charging cable to your Cadillac NACS adapter
  4. Plug the charging cord into your vehicle
  5. Tap “Start Charging” in the myCadillac app and wait for the EV to begin charging
  6. To finish charging, remove the charging cable and NACS adapter as one unit from your Cadillac
  7. Remove your Cadillac NACS adapter from the cable by clicking the latch on the adapter
